Rick Inzero's suggestion of a T-shirt depicting the old Ampico smokestack
might actually be one way of generating funds for the continuing operation
of MMD. After all, if high school bands and political parties can raise
money selling T-shirts to their own people, why can't we? I don't have
any experience with that particular technology, but I'm sure someone
among us must. The potential catalogue of public-domain images from the
'teens and 'twenties is endless, and folks like us needn't be shy about
publicizing our idiosyncratic hobbies on our chests. A bit of start-up
capital may be needed, but a portion of the profits could go toward
supporting this Digest.
We cannot ignore the necessity for self-financing of this marvelous
forum. I hope this will be taken as a serious suggestion. Maybe even
coffee mugs with pictures of Max Kortlander and J. Lawrence Cook....
