Introduction
By Sam Harris

In Fridays MMD you saw my introduction. I didn't know it would be
included and Jody informed me that I should write a little more
detailed one later.

I heard about MMD from another MMD subscriber in the Atlanta area. And
this is an excellent forum and I am looking forward to reading the future
MMDs

I am 29 just a baby in this great world of Mechanical Music.

My story is this when I was a child my mother would take me to the Old
Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor located in Old Jonesboro Tennessee. I played
the piano there pumping almost $3.00 in it in order to hear all the songs
on the Capitol roll. This a sweet memory of the time spent with my mother
who was killed in an auto accident when I was 8. Ever since then when I
would here the Mechanical Music my mind would flood with the memories of
the parlor and my mom. I always said one day I would own my own player.
In college I came across one for sale paid $200 and took it home it was a
mess but after 3 years of research and work it was completed. Now I'm
hopelessly hooked. My wife Anne and I are building a Victorian style home
in Greenville, NC and the living room is being made into a music parlor.

I dream of the day when I could own a Seeburg Nickelodeon and a small
Band Organ. I hope to find them in unrestored condition so that I can
have the great satisfaction of bringing them back to life myself.

I'm trying to figure out which Nickelodeon I want is there a picture
guide to them and if so where can I get one and if not what is the
closest thing to it. Any ideas on where I can look for these item would
be greatly appreciated. You can e-mail directly if you care to.

Relating to the comments on removing player actions. To see such an
instrument abused in such a way no matter the condition upsets me almost
personally

I have some technical questions for you professionals but I'll post them
later I've taken too much time now.

Until next time keep smilin'
(it causes people to wonder what your up to)
 :-)

 [ Editor's Note:
 [
[ Welcome Sam. I didn't mean to take you by surprise by publishing
[ your other introductory note. Many people don't write in for a long
[ time, so I took advantage of the fact that you had seemed to have
[ anticipated my request. Thanks for writing more about yourself.
