I was reading Arthur Reblitz's book on player piano repairs and there was
mention of a nickelodeon museum in Chicago Heights, Illinois. The
Nickelodeon Tavern And Museum was opened in the sixties. It said it was
opened by Flo and Al Svoboda. It displays nickelodeons and other
mechanical antiques. Sounds like a place worth visiting if still open!

[ Editor's Note:
[
[ I had my first legal beer at Svoboda's Nickelodeon Tavern. I regret
[ to inform you that the tavern is no longer in business. A large
[ portion of the collection is now in the Sanfilippo collection in
[ Barrington IL. The instruments have been well cared for there.
[ MBSI members were invited to tour the Sanfilippo collection during
[ the MBSI convention last summer. It brought back some nice memories.
[
[ In Digest 1996.10.15, Angelo Rulli wrote an article about Svoboda's and
[ the Chicago MBSI convention. Its worth re-reading. It can be accessed
