Cost of New Pianos
By Larry Kellogg

I think you have to realize that Yamaha has a minimum advertised price
policy where they will not advertise a price lower than MSRP
(Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price). In order to find out the
"real" price you have to go into the dealer and fight it out.
They will not tell you a "real" price over the phone.

I don't know whether we're talking about Disklavier grands or just
regular grands. Robbie has a point about the lack of competition as
regards to the Disklavier but I think there are a lot of other regular
grands to choose from...no??

With that said, I still love my Yamaha Disklavier upright. I would have
bought a grand if I had the money and the space. I listen to my piano
everyday; I now understand why all of you people love your reproducing
grands. They're a blast. Too bad radio killed the player piano.

I had a friend over the other day and I was playing him some of Wayne
Stahnke's Rachmaninoff transcriptions for the Disklavier. He said,
"I listen to this music all the time on CD, but this is so different."
Exactly. ...

Regards,

Larry Kellogg
