Well, they have at least one item that I noticed. I was there circa
July, 1995. In the Magic Kingdom, in the train station. On the second
floor is a very tall (over 7') natural-wood finish MM item. At the time,
I didn't know about this list and had never heard of an orchestrion, but
I suppose that is what you'd call what I saw. It was not a band organ,
and much too big to be considered a nickelodeon.
There isn't much inside the station, and it's kind of dark in there
(compared to the sunny outside). I didn't take a photo because 1) the
train was coming and 2) it was fairly dark, and in order to get the
entire mechanism in one frame, I had to get too far back for the point &
shoot's wimpy flash to be effective. I'd sure like to see a photo of it
(or go back! :-) ), so I could identify it. It has a lot of clear glass
in front so you can see all the stuff inside; I seem to remember bells or
a xylophone among other things. It was coin operated, and nobody else
was using it -- it seemed mostly ignored by the general public; I however
was quite excited when I saw it.
I did play it. It worked wonderfully, and played a long time for a
quarter. Most people just zoom through the interior of the station to
get to the loading platform outside and wait for a train. I only spent a
couple days there, and only in the Magic Kingdom, so don't know if any
other parts of the park or restaurants there may have other MM items.
