MasterSound has just released a two CD set of Gershwin Plays Gershwin.
The first disc is a copy of the CD of the same name put out by Intersound
of Georgia five or six years ago. It features a great collection of pop
piano material from 78 recordings.
The second disc features the acoustical recording of Rhapsody in Blue.
This is the 1924 Victor recording and is the one that is supposed to be
closest to the original Aeolian Hall debut. I believe it was also one of
Gershwin's favorite recordings of the piece. It is on "MasterSound
DFCDI-117. I bought my copies from the venerable Tower Records.
