Mechanical Music in the Movies
By Gordon Forcier

I just returned from Louisiana where I saw a movie on HBO titled A
Man Called Sledge, starring James Garner. In this movie was a player
piano, which sounded pretty fair. It was a western setting and about a
$300,000.00 gold heist.

Now I am about to pose the question? When did the first self
playing player piano come into existence, and when were the first 88
note rolls produced?

I think that this is a fair and just question, don't you think so,
MMD.
