I was in Germany last week and I saw a few WurliTzer cigarette machines
in the airport, and I wondered if Wurlitzer was, in fact, a German
company or is it American?

[ Rudolph Wurlitzer, a German immigrant, began selling musical
[ instruments in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1856; The Rudolph Wurlitzer Company
[ was incorporated in 1890 as an American company. (This information
[ from "Encyclopedia of Automatic Musical Instruments", by Q. David
[ Bowers, Vestal Press 1972.)
[
[ I don't know if the cigarette vending machine you saw is a product of
[ the American Wurlitzer firm. Note that the big 'T' is used only in
[ the logo of the product; it shouldn't be used when referring to the
[ Wurlitzer company or the family name. -- Robbie
