Introduction and Value of Piano
By Traudi Bestler
Greetings. I have been enjoying this list since joining a week or so ago. I am hoping you all can help me determine the value of a Chickering baby grand reproducing piano dating from 1926.
It has a Welte and standard playing mechanism. We have DeLuxe rolls that play beautifully and have enjoyed it immensely. Other than enjoying, I know very little about reproducing pianos, or the value of the rolls. Does the name of the person who played when the rolls were cut have any significance to collectors? Is there some book source that could help me find out? Do you know of a good place to post an ad on the Internet?
We need to move to smaller quarters soon, and finding a good home for this instrument is very important. Thanks for any help you can give, and feel free to e-mail us privately.
