Finding Subjects in MMD
By Jan Kijlstra
Dear Robbie, Every now and then the Dutch street organ shows up in the MMD. And of course a lot of other subjects are of interest to me and other MMD-members, but I would like to find out if, in any way, a more subject-oriented way of communication could be achieved.
[ Editors note: [ [ That's a tough problem, Jan. Right now the Digest is "serial access [ text data"; one must trudge through all the articles one-after- [ another. The communication aspect is the nice part: a letter in [ response can appear the next day in the Digest. [ [ Unlike a newspaper, which prints a title preceding each story (the [ "headline"), we try to compose a short subject description which can [ be found by a computer search engine, or even a string search utility [ at the reader's computer. But usually there is space for mention of [ only one subject, thus an article about H. Moehlmann organs in a movie [ probably won't have mention of Dutch street organs in the subject [ line. [ [ In just a short time Jody and Bob Fitterman will announce the new index [ and search features which Bob has developed for the MMD Archives. [ I hope this will help you and others searching for specific subjects. [ [ Robbie
