Player with Victrola
By Dick Beery
At a recent auction where I ended up buying a couple of 88 note players and a pump organ, a lady asked me if I knew anything about players. When I told her that I rebuilt them as a hobby she asked if I would look at one she bought in Texas and had shipped to Ohio. I said I would be happy too, but if she needed it worked on immediately I would have to refer her, as my hobby time is very limited right now. Then she said she just wanted someone to take a look and tell her how big a job it was going to be, which will work fine for me.
Now finally I am getting to the reason for this posting. Her last comment was then she wondered how unique her piano was because it had a built in Victrola. This woke me up very fast. I remember hearing a little about pianos with Victrolas but have never seen one. Can anyone give me any words of advice or information about what I might be getting into? Thanks in advance,
