Introduction
By Joerg Wendel

Hello! We follow the MMD for some months already, so we think it is time for our introduction. We are three of us:

Siegfried Wendel, age 62
Jorg Wendel, age 35
Jens Wendel, age 33

I (that's Jorg, I'm always the first reader) think my father Siegfried is already well-known in the field of mechanical music.

My brother and I are involved since we can remember, and in 1990 we started to make mechanical music our profession as well. Now our company, Mechanical Musicboxes Manufactory (MMM), runs workshops with 14 full-time employees which are specialised in mechanical music. In our workshops we made the "Violinas" and the "Maestos", and of course restorations of different orchestrions.

We run a roll-punching machine where we read the roll by camera and can recut each system which exists. Our MIDI connection to the roll-puncher will hopefully be finished middle of this year. Until now we made rolls for: Hupfeld-Phonoliszt-Violina (200 different rolls), Hupfeld Helios, Welte green, Welte red, Poppers, Loesche, Seybold and Bruder 109; at the moment are Phillips Paganini rolls on the machine. Then we produce Birdcages, Birdboxes and Whistlers of the former "Griesbaum" production and -- Brand New -- replicas of Kalliope disc music boxes (23.5 cm discs).

Another part of our company is wholesale and retail sales of music boxes; there we import new music boxes (mostly from China and Taiwan) and sell them in our wholesale and in our "Musicboxworld" shops. So as you can see we make nearly everything you can do in mechanical music.

We have two home pages on the net, one with the "Weber Maesto" at http://www.rheingau.de/firmen/wendel and the other one with a small catalogue of our other products at http://home.t-online.de/home/mmm-gmbh

So, that's all so far, and of course we will be happy to help if someone needs some help in mechanical music, especially here in Germany. You can contact us by e-mail: mmm-gmbh@t-online.de, telephone: 49 (0)6722 47994 or fax: 49 (0)6722 47415.
