Mechanical Music in the Movies
By Angelo Rulli
Ron Bopp inquired about mechanical music in the movies. My wife Gina is a movie buff and she has been compiling such matters for about 10 years. Currently, she has about 40 sightings related to MM in various movies, mostly from the 1930s to the 1950s, but some as recent as the early 1990s. Eventually, she hopes to organize them and offer them as a filler article. Of course, most of the scenes relate to organ grinders, but then so does she.
Enough for now. Thanks for the great job both of you are doing. Robbie, thanks for your additional comments regarding the Turandot last week. I was in a hurry and just wanted to help the guy out with the stolen music box. I didn't mean to cause an international controversy. Your words show the depth of knowledge you possess, and are willing to share.

[ There wasn't a controversy, and I just passed along the note from [ Japan. The nice surprise was the additional information sent by [ Philippe Rouille. Ain't it all grand! :) -- Robbie
