Rebuilding Standard Double-Valve Action

Hi, Marc. As a newly qualified restorer I would like to offer my opinion so as I know whether or not I am doing things right! I am sure that the other subscribers will correct me if I am wrong.
Bridle straps - I have just fitted a clip-on set to an Underwood Piano action (Boston Mass.) and they seem fine. They clip firmly and do the job. The alternative - to drill out the balance hammer shank simply to accommodate the tape end - seems unthinkable. As long as the length is correct and they hold their position where is the problem?
Key tops - I would have thought that the use of a proper buffing wheel with white soap would restore them properly.
Tubing - I use only the best thick brown rubber tubing - no plastic, or even worse - auto hose!
Wind Motor - I think that the Player Piano Co. would stock some hinge material, but I imagine others may have more local sources. What is it - pillow ticking - that is supposed to be used? Does anyone find a good alternative?
