Horse-drawn Calliope in New Orleans
By Craig Smith

When Kathay and I were at the World's Fair in New Orleans a few years ago (1983?) we saw a large, horse-drawn calliope wagon. I saw the picture I took of it just a few days ago -- it was metallic silver. They told us it belonged to Disney. Real steam! They wouldn't play it though.

Craig Smith

[ When I worked at Disneyland in the late '60s one of the old-timers
[ mentioned a steamer Walt had acquired. "Why isn't it in the parades
[ here?", I asked. His short reply: "California smog laws."
[ (But I played a Tangley cal-li-ope for several seasons.) -- Robbie
