"Kickin' the Clouds Away"
By Karl Ellison
In MMD970225, zach@circle.net was looking for the roll "Kickin' the Clouds Away". I don't know where to find it, but on the CD, "Gershwin plays Gershwin - the Piano Rolls" (Electra 79287-2), this roll was Duo-Art 713122. It was composed by George Gershwin, Ira Gershwin and B. G. DeSylva, and was recorded for Duo-Art by George in July 1925.
Another thing that popped into my head, for what it's worth -- I remember hearing this tune on a Betty Boop cartoon I saw on American Movie Classics. It was the main song she sang, with the last phrase of the refrain going something about ".. here comes the garbage man!" as she danced through the NY City streets collecting junk. (It should have been NYC, since I believe that's where Max Fleisher's studios were in the '20's and early '30's before moving to Florida).
