Introduction
By Charlie Hind

Hi friends, I guess you could say that I am one of the "music box people" Nancy Fratti asked about. I love every aspect of mechanical music, though I have never actually restored anything. For the last fifteen years I have earned my living making wooden ocarinas. We ship them to stores across the country, and I sell them at Arts Festivals and through the mail.

My main interest is precision machining. Over the years I have made two cylinder music boxes, a pipe organ, and my last musical project was a hand-cranked organ that plays Celestina rolls on 20 of my ocarinas.

[ Welcome to MMD, Charlie, and what's the wood ocarina like? Does it
[ sound like a traditional Italian instrument of clay? I love the
[ sound of the little "Sweet Potato". -- Robbie
