Market for Replica Instruments
By Wolfgang Brommer
Dear Members of MMD, we are just new in your group. Perhaps some of you know us. We are organ builders in Waldkirch and continue the great tradition of organ building here. To get some information of our instruments and note-rolls get in contact with us: Jaeger und Brommer tel: **49-7681-3927 Am Gewerbekanal 5 fax: **49-7681-9370 D-79183 Waldkirch email: jaegerbrommer@t-online.de Germany
We will start our one home-page in a few days -- please visit us or contact our friend Dr. Ron Bopp: rbopp59360@aol.com
Our question to discuss: in 1999 we celebrate our festival of 200 years of organ building in our home-town. We plan to reproduce one of the original Bruder organs. Would this be a good idea? We will make only 5 or 10 organs. We don't know if there will be an interest in doing this. The size would be one of the hand-cranked organs (42 keys). Let us know if we should do this or if it is better not to make reproductions.
Regards Wolfgang Brommer - masterorganbuilder
[ Editors note: [ [ Wolfgang has posed a good question: Is there a market for replica [ organs? What price will buyers pay for a replica of a famous [ instrument? Is it possible to build the replica for this price? [ [ Many years ago replicas of the Seeburg "KT Special" were built and [ sold. Was this project successful, or did it lose money? What is the [ value of these same replicas today? What about the recent replicas of [ the Wurlitzer "Encore" banjo and Hupfeld "Phonoliszt"? Are they a [ success? Are the customers, and the builders, still happy? [ [ -- Robbie |
