Re: Mechanical Music for the Masses
By John A. Tuttle
Hello, Like any right-minded human being, I can see the negative effect that certain segments of society are having on us and our young. The primary offenders are anti-social individuals and groups who perpetuate foul and abusive actions and language. Among these are head-bangers, rappers and grundgers.
I, like many others, do not wish to be involved in any way with the sort of people that would tear down the fabric of society for their own personal pleasure or gain.
It is, therefore, my fervent hope that their music does not infiltrate the realm of Mechanical Music. It's one thing to talk about a Chinese opium dealer in San Francisco in a cute and amusing way and quite another to talk about shooting a policeman or f---ing your mother.
I think that if a few of our readers had actually read the comments Craig Brougher made instead of responding to the comments that followed, they wouldn't be bashing Craig but rather praising his firm stand against such trash.
Let us all take a similar stand against violent, vulgar and virtueless music in our society today. Our children's children will thank us.
A wise man once told me, "never lower yourself to another's standards but rather attempt to raise them up to your own."
Musically, John A. Tuttle
