Mayfair Bandonium
By Wolf655@aol.com
I have a player 'bandonium' made by the Mayfair Playthings Co. of N.Y. It's been in my possession for 35 years but I have no idea how old it is (I guess 1930's). It plays (piano roll type) paper rolls 2-1/2" wide by operating an outside lever which drives an inside flywheel. The left and right buttons are "dummies".
I have never seen another and have no idea of its value or rarity. It works well, but, living in high desert country, the rolls have gotten too brittle to play without tearing, although the bellows and reeds are fine. (I am sure the rolls could be duplicated with new type materials.) The instrument is about 8" x 8" x 13-1/2" and well maintained.
Could you provide me with any information? Does it ring a bell? I would appreciate any information - also about your publication.
Thank you
