Adding Recordo to Foot-pumped Players
By Ron Rainville

With regard to my suggestion concerning the addition of a Recordo expression unit to foot-pumped players (Digest 97.01.23), I should have given the sources that I consulted which led to the construction of my "vertical expression regulator".

The basic information came from the Billings Rollography, Volume II. In that volume there is a section which describes several units (A, B and C types), suggestions concerning the setting of the various intensity levels and some discussion about the pros and cons of the various systems.

The other source was Craig Brougher's Orchestrion book, Chapter 8, Designing Expression Regulators, where you will find everything you always wanted to know about the Hickman regulator (Ampico B). . . Let's give credit where it's due.

In the Digest of 97.01.24, Don Teach mentioned the Billings Rollography. Volumes 1 - 5 are available for $39.00 each plus postage from:

   ROCK SOUP
   GInny and Bob Billings
   14010 Rim Rock Drive
   Reno, NV 89511-7347
   Phone: (702) 853-4659

And yes, Don -- Ginny and Bob Billings certainly are the premier Recordo enthusiasts. Where would we Recordo buffs be without them.
