Chordephon-60 Player Zithers
By Gerard Arkenbout

Hello Robbie, Thank you for your interest in the 60-string Chordephon Zithers my friend is constructing and building. I can report that both Chordephons are waiting the delivery of strings. These specially- made strings will be delivered by a German factory. Next March the music-boxes will be ready, we hope. They are then to be coupled and play synchronously. With some strings already placed the Chordephons are now producing promising beautiful sounds. In March a photograph will be available to inform the MBSI of the status of the Chordephons.

Also my friend asked me to inform you, he has now new-punched 19.9-inch = 50.5 cm metal music-discs for the Chordephon-60 to exchange for other discs (already used or even damaged, he only wants to know the positions of the metal hooks on the discs). In his collection he found the tune : "An der Schoenen Blauen Donau." I already informed the MBSI on 2 Oct 1996; the other tunes he has available to exchange.

I will inform you and the MBSI in March `97 on the state of the Chordephons-60. Perhaps a sound file (.wav) will be also generated. Till that time, Best regards,

Gerard Arkenbout

[ Thanks for the report, Gerard. I am very impressed with the effort
[ which you and your friend have put into this grand project. How will
[ the instruments be coupled for synchronous playing? This seems to
[ require a very precise mechanism. I hope to hear the instruments
[ myself someday! -- Robbie
