FS: 72-key Bruder Organ in Italy
By Giovanni Zanin, forwarded by Robbie Rhodes
I am forwarding the technical exact specifications of automatic organ built by the sons of WILHELM BRUDER of Waldkirch Baden ca. 1816.
The organ is in good condition, but in view of its age some restoration work will be necessary to bring out the full beauty of the magnificent instrument's potential sound quality. Our Company, which has specialized in the construction of traditional pipe organs, has never built organs of this type. It therefore difficult for us to make any estimate of the organ's price but considering the unique nature of the instrument a reasonable figure might be around 100,000 USD. I look to hearing from you in the near future.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION: comprises a wind chest with six sliders and a series of 72 buttons operated by a pin-studded belt. The wedge-shaped bellows are fed by means of crank-operated pumps. The automatic piano roll contains ten different pieces (waltz, polka, marches ...). The body is superbly decorated and mounted on wheels.
STOP CONFIGURATION: TRUMPET 8' BASS, FLUTE 8', MIXTURE 2 RANKS, QUINT SOPRANO, DIAPASON 2', KLOSTER, VOX HUMANA 3 RANKS SOPRANO. Total pipes 308.
DIMENSIONS: HEIGHT 176 CM, WIDTH 169 CM, DEPTH 90 CM.
Yours faithfully

[ Relief Editors note: [ [ The writer is not a subscriber to MMD, so please respond directly to [ Mr. Zanin. Perhaps someone can answer these questions: [ [ 1. Wilhelm Bruder Soehne organs were built from about 1870 to 1940. [ Isn't the date more likely to be 1916? The image resembles a [ Model 42, but wider. [ [ 2. What is the pin-studded belt? [ [ 3. Is USD 100,000 a reasonable value? [ [ Jaeger & Brommer -- Are you listening? Can you tell us what might [ this Waldkirch organ be, and its possible value? [ [ Robbie |
