Waldkircher Orgelbau
By Wolfgang Brommer
Dear friends of the Mechanical Music Digest,
Sorry for my bad English -- I'll try to give my best version. For us (Waldkircher Orgelbau Jaeger and Brommer) the possibilities to get in contact with new friends of the Mechanical Music Instruments are just new.
First, I will give a short information about ourselves: we are both two master-organ-builders here in Waldkirch in the south of Germany. Waldkirch is located in the Black Forest, not far from Freiburg. We think that everyone who likes the mechanical organs knows something about Waldkirch and the great tradition.
We founded our own factory in 1988. Heinz Jaeger is the grandson of the Gebrueder Weber-factory family. We work now with 10 specialists in our shop, where we produce new street organs and as well the great band-organs. One of our specialties is the restoration of mechanical and pneumatic music-instruments. To see and hear some of our products we are just now working on our own Internet home-page. If there will be any interest, we can give to all our Internet-address when we are ready. One of our main interests is to find out where today the organs out of Waldkirch are playing.
In 1999 we have our great festival of 200 years of organ building in Waldkirch. Would anybody come to us? We can help! Also we can give some short information about our great history in Waldkirch. If there will be any interest we will give it also to the Digest. We will give also our help to all of you if you have questions about organs.
Our address is
Waldkircher Orgelbau Am Gewerbekanal 5 D-79183 Waldkirch Germany tel: 001149 - 7681 - 3927 fax: 001149 - 7681 - 9370 e-mail: jaegerbrommer@t-online.de

[ Don't worry about bad grammar, Wolfgang -- you are a good writer [ and you present your thoughts well, therefore I can easily correct [ any small problems. As the 1999 Waldkirch Festival plans take [ shape please write to us. [ [ I think that an "Inventory of Mechanical Organs" is a project which [ the Digest members could help with. Imagine a catalog or book with [ the history of the big instruments: where they were first used, what [ happened later, and where they are now. A fascinating project -- [ just think of tracing the path of a Waldkirch organ through Belgium, [ and of the modifications by Carl Frei and others, and then becoming [ a Dutch Street Organ performing in Cuba, or in a carusel somewhere!
