Introduction
By Bob Hunt
I am a manufacturing engineer at Corning Costar Corp. in Kennebunk, ME. I have been restoring player and reproducing pianos for 30 years. My primary interest is in restoration, although I have acquired a few instru- ments in my own collection. I am also fascinated by the potential in MIDI as it applies to interfacing with the original pneumatic instruments.
Presently I am restoring a Steinway Duo-Art Concertola. This is, without a doubt, the most interesting and challenging restoration I have done. I have taken many photographs of the work in progress and will be putting together an article for the Amica Bulletin describing the process.
Does anyone know where I can get electrical and pneumatic diagrams for a Concertola? My experience in general is sufficient to keep me out of trouble for most of the restoration, but it would be much simpler putting it back together with diagrams!
Thank you Jody, Robbie, and all the contributors to MMD for what, in my short experience with it, is a most valuable resource for the preservation of mechanical musical instruments. I hope I can contribute something of value from time to time.

[ Hi Bob, and welcome to the "Circle of Digest Authors" (everyone who [ wrote an Introduction is in it. ;-) Indeed, we've had disussions [ of the Concertola here and I hope you'll get the information you [ need for your article. In fact, I hope you can arrange to publish [ a preview of the article in the Digest. Then I'll anxiously await [ the illustrations in the AMICA Bulletin! -- Robbie |
