List of Museums at Musica Mecanica
By Philippe Rouillé
In the organization of the archives of the MMD, may I suggest that the list of members would be linked with our respective introductions to the MMD.
To answer Jan Kijlstra's request about a list of museums: on my web site Musica Mecanica is a list (in English, French and German) of
= Mechanical Music Associations throughout the world (about 25 of them)
= Museums throughout the world having an interest in mechanical music (almost 100, and I shall add shortly the Japanese and the American museums)
= Some events to come (mainly in France, some in Europe)
I try to maintain the list as complete and as up-to-date as possible, thanks to the data I get from various associations (AAIMM, GSM, MBSI, etc.) and from my own research. That is quite a lot of work, but I do it for fun (?) and mainly because I think it may be useful -- at least I hope so. Otherwise, I shall go sailing (but not in the Roaring Forties).

So, if you do not want to do the work again, you are always welcomed to establish a link with my pages.
You also have access to Musica Mecanica from the Home page of the Musee des Arts et Metiers : http://www.cnam.fr/museum/ Then click on Musica Mecanica.

[ Editors note: [ [ There are several useful lists which are best maintained on a web site: [ [ Museums & Societies & Events (Philippe Rouille) [ Piano Technicians (John A. Tuttle) [ Sources of Music: rolls, discs, etc. (Paul Johnson, Michael Waters) [ Sources of Materials [ Antique Stores [ Manufacturers of Instruments [ [ We surely need more people to create and maintain lists like the above [ on their web sites. Any volunteers? (No pay, just satisfaction!) [ [ -- Robbie |
