Introduction and Circular Cutter Sharpeners
By Meta Brown

In my search for information on conversion of piano rolls to MIDI, Laurent Coray of Octet Design told me that I should seek out Robbie Rhodes and Mechanical Music Digest. After a couple of weeks reading the digest (and the wonderful archive), I am very grateful for that suggestion.

Several people have mentioned the use of rotary (circular) cutters for cutting paper and other materials here. I would like to point out that the blades of these cutters dull very quickly, particularly if they are used to cut paper. So, if you are going to be cutting rolls this way, get a cutter for that purpose alone. Never, ever, borrow any cutting device from someone's sewing basket to cut paper.

Sharpeners are available for the blades -- if you can't find them at a sewing shop near you, check the Nancy's Notions web site. Fiskar's makes cutters with a very comfortable grip and good safety latch, they are sold in many big fabric shops, and are less expensive than the better known Olfa brand.

[ you for the information above. I hope you enjoy our various
[ topics and will write again telling us more about your interests.
