Re: Ampico Roll Images
By Mark Fontana
In regards to Wayne Stahnke's offer to make available 500 Ampico roll images in MIDI format- sure, I'd love to see this collection available, and I am personally interested in a copy.
Some technical information on how the recordings were made and at what sample rate, etc. would be appreciated.

Are there other forms that I am not aware of?
I suggest making two collections available on the MMD ftp server- a .ZIP file of .WEB files (Wayne's own roll image format) including documentation on the .WEB file format, and a .ZIP file of MIDI files with the Ampico expression already converted.
From MIDI files, people could easily convert to Disklavier, Pianocorder, and PianoDisc formats, and the files would be playable as-is on MIDI piano modules and synthesizers.
My only concern is the copyright issue... would Wayne have to prove each song to be in the public domain in order to distribute it this way? Could a company who currently offers the selections for sale in a different electronic format (for solenoid pianos) take any action against Wayne, even though they each scanned their own copy of the rolls?
