Phonola Rolls
By Wayne Stahnke

I am currently scanning a roll for Larry Karp that I have identified as a Phonola roll. Can anyone on the Digest help me to learn more about the Phonola? I need to know the (intended) width of the paper, the number of ports in the tracker bar, the port spacing, and the function of each port. The roll appears to play notes only (no expression or pedal).

Any information, however fragmentary, would be appreciated.
