Re: Chase Piano - Thanks for the Help
By John Poling
Many thanks to those who have tried to help me get to know my player piano. John Tuttle has ID'ed it as a 1926-'27 Chase-Hackley with a few twists. It appears that my piano was made after the company was bought out by another and the old pieces laying around in stock were combined so as to use them up. This does not diminish the quality however as we have determined that it is in very good condition. The pitch is currently 20 cents off from perfect and I think that will do for now. I will see if it keeps the tune or not as time goes by. My children and I look forward to a good many years of fun with it. To those who have had their email returned when they tried to send it to me, I have no idea what went wrong. I have been getting email all week and all weekend so all I can think of is that my provider (Flashnet) has had some problems.
To Jody Kravitz; you had asked how I had heard about your digest... I don't remember where I got it from exactly (it was some late night surfing) but I think it was from a search on Yahoo. Thanks again.
