Aeolian-Skinner Test Roll
By Eugene Rogers

I have decided to investigate making my own test roll using a 12 character per inch typerwriter. The problem is I have encounted is the advancement of the platen is not variable. I could add a short piece of .038 stainless steel rod in one of the strikers. This would provide the holes I need for cutting. Does anyone know if a typewriter that has a variable platen advancer that I could pruchase. I was also thinking of a computer driven typewriter (one that has solenoids to activate each striker) and have the software written to interpret the holes by a laser scanner. This would be an ideal method of coping Skinner rolls
