Introduction and Spring Wound Melville Clark Player Piano
By Troy Taylor

I saw the address for this subscription service on the player piano homepage of Mr. Michael Waters, and would like to be added. Specifically I am trying to get more information about a Melville Clark player piano that my father restored that has an unusual dual tracker-bar that enables it to play 58, 65, and 88 note rolls, with a lever to control which set of holes are in use. The roll width spacing can also be adjusted, allowing us to use some early QRS 88 note rolls that have the earlier wide holes like 65 note rolls, and are several inches wider than the standard width of today.

Also a little on the unusual side is the fact that the motor is driven by a spring, wound up by the pedals, and mounted with a clutch that keeps it from being over-wound and breaking.

I'm interested in any information that anyone might have about other pianos similar to this one, and if anyone has one that they use I have some additional, specific questions about operation.

Thanks much for any information anyone might have.
