It allows one to know what is available "out there" and what people think some of this stuff is worth. I personally am not interested in buying anything (We have far too many pianos and 'things' already) but I like reading the ads. The present level of ads to discussion is fine. Other digests I participate in, Antique Fountain Pen Collectors and 3D Photo, both allow ads in the discussion area and probably at a higher level of ads to discussion than MMD does.
