If this were my project, I'd seriously consider calling Howes Piano Co. in Denver. Phone 303-462-0505 and ask for Gil (I think that's his name and I think it's short for Gilbert). They make replacement stacks for difficult-to-rebuild players like Gulbransen and Farrands, and they have in some cases had to put new stacks in some of the late Aeolians because they wouldn't handle the high-altitude thin air of Leadville (alt. 10,000 feet).
Their stacks have been the source of criticism from some "purists", but when you've got a choice of expensive rebuild (if at all), total removal, or partial replacement, it's the informed customer's choice, not the technician's. I used one of their stacks on a Gulbransen and had absolutely no trouble with it what-so-ever.
