Deleika Hurdy-Gurdy
By Robbie Rhodes

I found an ad for another modern hurdy-gurdy in a recent book (translation attached below). Claus Kucher wrote that he saw an advertisement explaining that the name is an abbreviation for "Deutscher Leierkasten":

>
> De -utscher German
> Lei -er- Hurdy-
> Ka -sten Gurdy

(It seems that "noba-tronic" implies "noble or posh electronics"; I have no idea what GEFI means.)

When I visited in Germany a few years ago I saw at least two of these Deleika organs entertaining crowds at street festivals, and one jolly operator let me crank the organ while he ran to a nearby Wurst seller. Indeed, whether the music was from the built-in music roll, or from the electronic memory, the organ responded exactly the same when my cranking speed varied. It was fun, and very authentic sounding!

                        ______________

Experience joy and give joy: DELEIKA - "Die Drehorgel"

Handcrafted perfection, with 20 and 26 keys and 20, 31 or 44 pipes of selected woods. DELEIKA organs come in many designs, and also in unpainted cabinets, so that you can be creative. Organs uniquely painted by artists, and organs with high-quality inlay work, await with a selection of 300 music-rolls containing over 500 songs.

Nostalgia merged with the most modern technology! The 19th and 20th centuries are sensibly combined in the GEFI noba-tronic hurdy- gurdy. You can play it as it was a century ago. Both the music- roll contained inside, and the GEFI noba-tronic, play at full volume. Those that love a faithful-to-the-original hurdy-gurdy completely realize their investment.

GEFI noba-tronic: the patented memory control makes it possible to play 200 songs, and in any sequence. Verses can be repeated at will, a great feature for genuine atmosphere. The cranking speed determines the music speed, just as when playing from the music roll. With the request-memory you always have "your newest hit" at hand in no time, for a good time!
