Okay, I'll Take the List
By Paul Johnson
Jody, Larry F., Rob & Rob:
Thanks for your input regarding the list. Hokay, I'll be the keeper of the `roll vendah' list for now until some new unsuspecting member stumbles along. That's what I get for having so many inputs!
I'll compare Larry's and Robbie R's formats and do whatever blending makes sense. Once this is done, I'll go ahead and publish it for any further comments.
I agree that it should be part of FAQs. However, it would just be a portion of that piece. I'll maintain just the vendor list and if someone else wants to maintain the FAQs list, that would be okay by me.
Jody: I'm thinking that if it's going to reside in FAQ that it only needs to be republished when significant changes occur (and then probably no more frequently than once a month). Agree/disagree?
[ I think that an FAQ should be re-transmitted it two [ forms. 1) The entire list, and 2) the changes. The latter [ form is useful to those who know the list well. An alternative [ is to mark changes in the new list with change bars. [ [ There's been plenty of topics discussed here that should [ be in an FAQ. I imagine that we might have sections which [ are maintained by differrent people, and merged by one [ of them (or me). I'd like to see the FAQ donwloadable via [ FTP and (eventually) via a Web Browswer. Mailing to the [ subscribers could be once every 30 to 60 days. It probably [ depends on how frequently it gets added to. We need volunteers [ for other sections! [ [ Jody
Regarding the FAQs list: I think it would be valuable to add some short information about the main contributors to the forum. When a newbie comes on board, it might help if they knew a little bit about the background of the person writing. Perhaps those interested in this could submit a few sentences about their background and area/s of interests and experience.
Rob Rhodes: Thanks for the compliments on the catalog, I really appreciate it. Actually, I'm the one who was hunkered over Pagemaker, Corel Photo Paint, the scanner and MS Word puttin' that puppy together. Lotta a work but I'm pleased with the result.
