Playtime Rolls
By Darrell Clarke
Jody et al,
I contacted Playtime in Florida and received a reply from Robert Malek, who is quite happy to ship player rolls overseas and will quote for the postage when the order details are received. He is set up for credit card transactions, but is concerned about the reluctance of his customers to use that facility over the Internet. For heavens sake don't raise the issue with him, it is a sore point !
I am, however, interested to know what others think re security, fraud, etc. on the Internet (off topic a bit, sorry).
Cheers, Darrell
[ Editor's Note: I would not personally send my credit card [ information over the Internet unless it was encrypted. Netscape [ has the capability to do that, but its not always obvious whether [ a "form" you fill in is going to be transmitted in encrypted [ format. There was a big stink early in the life of the Netscape [ product because the encryption key was easy to predict. [ Thats been fixed, but there's also the issue of the security [ of the receiving site. I expect that electronic commerce [ is going to become an important part of the Internet -- but [ there are going to be some growing pains. [ [ I'd encourage everyone to read their credit card statements and [ their long distance phone bills carefully. I recently had a [ call during "spring break" from Daytona Beach to somewhere in [ Wisconsin billed to my phone. I suspect it was an honest error [ (the call was short and was not repeated), but I had to call AT&T [ to get credit for the call. Incidentally, AT&T is _NOT_ my [ long distance carrier, and they have been soliciting my business [ by phone and mail ever since! To their credit, they were very [ good about reversing the charge. However, had I not looked at [ my bill, I would have paid for the call... [ [ Jody
