AMICA Convention - St. Louis - Day 4
By Terry Smythe

Day 4 (and Day Last) of the Convention featured a farewell breakfast at which the annual AMICA Membership meeting was conducted. Among the agenda items were:

New International Officers:

Linda Bird, President
Dan Brown, Vice President
Ken Vinen, Corresponding Secretary
Roy Powlan, Treasurer (Re-elected)
Maury Willyard, Immediate Past President

New Membership Secretary - Bill Chapman

1997 Convention - Sandusky, Ohio, mid-June 1997, Convention Chair - Robin Pratt.

Locations for 1998, 1999 Conventions not yet determined

Convention for 2001 proposed for Melbourne, Australia

Membership Dues increased by $5 to $32

Notice of De-Activation filed for Philadelphia Area Chapter

To everyone's amusement, the pink "battery" bunny suddenly appeared, thumping his drum, and just kept going, right through the hall..... :-)

Open Houses followed the formal adjournment of the Annual General Meeting and I was lucky enough to find a couple of rides, making it possible to take in 4 of them. The highlight for me was viewing in the same room 4 beautifully restored Reginaphones, each different from each other, surrounded by an eclectic collection of St. Louis World's Fair memorabilia, early St. Louis engravings, a horn violin, and a host of fascinating antiques.

Gary Stevenson, someone who made a significant contribution to the success of the Convention in a number of different areas, such as the "Melody Museum" display, the Ragtime display, and frequent use of his computer during the Convention, kindly drove Angelo Rulli and I to the airport in the early evening, following his own open house, to catch our flight to Minneapolis. Thank you Gary.

Regards,

Terry
