Jody,
As moderator of another automated mailing list, I have a great deal of empathy for you and the enormous effort required to keep it running. I commend you for the outstanding work that you do for all of us. I look forward to every digest, and find in most of them a mini-seminar on this or that topic. I keep every one of them, and often find myself going back over them to review various tips and leads.
As for subject matter and where is it going? I'm personally delighted with every digest that comes through regardless of content. True I understand little of contemporary electronic music, but I am extremely gratified that those who do understand this stuff have migrated their interest into making it possible to capture the content of paper rolls into digital format, and thereby preserve them for all time.
The old rolls are rapidly running out of time, and I can recall back in mid-1988 raising the issue of the future demise of paper rolls. As I said then, paper rolls are absolutely guaranteed to one day self destruct and die. Yet so many of us, myself included, tend to treat them as an inexhaustible, self-renewable resource.
So, while I have difficulty understanding some of this contemporary electronic wizardry, I have complete faith in the drive, enthusiasm, and vision of those involved, sincerely believing in the ultimate worth and value of their efforts. Their efforts today are ensuring continuation of this delightful slice of musical heritage for all time.
Jody, what you, Robin, and Angelo are doing is indeed very much appreciated. You make it possible for all of us to further our interests, knowledge, appreciation and skill.
Sincere regards,
Terry
