Direction of Digest
By John Phillips
I was very sorry to read Robin Pratt's request in the last Digest to be left off the mailing list. I've been a member of AMICA and the British PPG for about twenty years each and the Australian ACMMI for about fifteen years. I am as committed as I can be to doing a proper restoration when rebuilding player pianos and would not dream of doing any amendments to the original design, except where electrical safety is concerned. I have been subscribing to the Digest for about three months now and have thoroughly enjoyed it. The discussions have got pretty lively once or twice, perhaps even heated, but isn't that one of the advantages of this electronic medium? It's true that there is a good deal of discussion of digital music but I can't see that there has been much suggestion that people should hack into their players so that they will become MIDI reproducers. I certainly get more out of the Digest than I put in and I'm grateful to Jody and the other regular contributors.
Please reconsider your decision, Robin.
John Phillips.
