Re: Pillow Pouches
Ron;
I wanted to share this info with others and hopefully we can get a
"pillow-fight" :-) going.
I would take a sample pouch, microwave it on low for about :40-:50
seconds to loosen the glue, carefully unfold it and use it to make a
cardboard template. This would have the inlet/outlet hole at its
center, plus enable you to fold the new zephyr skin right at the proper
fold points. I would punch the center hole first (mark thru template
with a pencil, then crease the leather over the cardboard edges; also
folding the flaps at the end needed to seal. I would then apply hot
glue to the cleaned fibre ring, center the unfolded pouch over it, and
let dry for an hour or so (less time is needed with good hot glue).
When it is thoroughly dried, then apply (with a fine artist's detail
brush) a small margin of glue at the edges to be folded, CAREFULLY
folding them along the lines you already creased. Allow to dry for at
least 1 hr. with hot glue; overnight with aliphatic resin glue. I
don't ever use white glue :-( You can complete the rest of the
procedure. Oh yes-DO measure carefully the stem wire length from
lifter disc to valve seat first! I learned that one the hard way.
I am certain that the experts "out there" must know of a better, faster
way of doing them; maybe my response to your question will invite some
helpful feedback for us all!
The new MIDI file is completed in score only with a crude attempt on my
part to "orchestrate" it for synthesizer. Maybe Messrs. Rhodes,
Bogatko & Wasson will want to get involved.
P.S. -after the pouch is folded and dired with lifter disc glued back
on, maybe seal it with that Dow Corning 111 Silicone Grease as Zephyr
skin is ridiculously porous (at least the skins I've gotten many years
ago).
Cheers,
S.K.Goodman
