I restored an Ampico action for a 9' Chickering three years ago for a
private collector in Washinton State. It sounded great, but it might be
a little overwhelming for most people's living rooms. By the motor
housing there was a clip which held a larger pulley marked: FOR STAGE &
CONCERT HALL USE. Presently I am working on Weber Concert grand that
has had the action gutted. The person who did this went to great pains
to cover the fact this had ever been a player, to the extent of plugging
the holes in the posts (and matching the grain patterns)that the large
ruber tubing passed through. I have all the parts need but I will have
to make a new stack, as this one is slightly longer than stacks found
in standard grands. I would really like to find a like piano intact so
I may see if there are any other differences, like in valve spacing and
the size of the pneumatics.
