Yamaha Keyboard
By Charles Kossman

Lately I've been reading the interesting stuff that has been coming down the line. I notice that it mostly seems to particularly refer to Automatic or Player Pianos, Rolls, Music and related items. I'm fortunately on the receiving end because I have a Few antique music boxes of various types and Sizes. I have a Macintosh Computer and also have an Electronic Keyboard or whatever you call it but unfortunately never learned to Play it very well. It was rather expensive when I bought it because I notice that they now sell all kinds of similar In-expensive types. I haven't touched the Keyboard for more than 2 or 3 years as I have other interests. (i.e. Collecting Music boxes, Computing etc.) The Keyboard is a Yamaha Model PSR -6300. There is a MIDI connecting place in the back and various other connection things are back there also.

When I bought the Mac Computer I also got a "Passport MIDI Interface". I connected the stuff up once but never got past that as other more important Interests took over at the time. (and I never figured out how to work the thing anyway, in fact, I never even tried)

Question 1: Can Music or Melodies or Tunes be sent down the line on (or via) the Internet so that they would go into my Computer and then could be played on my Keyboard?

Question 2: What special Software would I need in order to play it from the Computer to the Keyboard.

[ Editor's Note: The short answer to #1 is yes. The long answer comes
[ when you get to #2. There are several others in this group struggling
[ with that question. There are several others who do it every day
[ without a problem. The "survey" which I posted a few days ago was
[ an attempt to collect information on who needed help (like you), and
[ who was likely to know how to help.
[
[ There is a "standard" way of attaching files to e-mail on the Internet.
[ My system (foxtail) does not know how to do this reliably. I've ordered
[ a special program that may help. I get it Monday.
[
[ I encourage others in the group who've use MACs and have had success
[ mailed MIDI "attachments" to let us know.
