Introduction
By Bob Ricco
Hello all! This is a note of introduction. My name is Bob Ricco. I'm from Wyomissing Hills,PA and I have been interested in automatic music for many years. I found out about this group from Pete Woodworth's Nickelodeon Home Page while net surfing - so I joined. Casual conversation on these topics doesn't occur at every gathering so it is nice to have a receptive audience! Over the years, I have rebuilt and sold several players and reed organs. From time to time, I keep one. As a result, my collection consists of:
Automatic Instruments: Knabe Ampico Model A Parlor Grand (6'6") Lauter-Humana upright player C. Kurtzmann & Son upright player (unrestored) Wilcox & White Pneumatic Symphony Concert Roller Organ Regina 15" Disc Upright Music Box (with 3 Ballerinas on a stage) 2 Modern Reuge Music boxes 75 note cylinder-Bicentennial "Chimes of Liberty" 50 note interchangeable cylinder box (5 cylinders)
Non-automatic Instruments: Cornish Company Reed Organ A.L.White Mfg.Co. Pipe Tone Organ (a reed organ that folds into a suitcase) Upright Victor Talking Machine 11 rank pipe organ (EP action, 650 or so pipes, no cabinet) (currently for sale/trade whole or as pieces)
I have not been fortunate enough to acquire any larger automatic instruments due to space limitations but my favorite amusement park (in Elysburg,PA) has a half-dozen band organs playing constantly so I can go there and listen.
Besides the instruments, I have accumulated many rolls (Ampico & 88 note) so I can enjoy my collection as much as the rest of the family will tolerate. There may be other items around but I can't recall what since I keep the spare parts in the garage loft.
Currently i am not working on a "project" ( the kids keep me busy 30 hours a day) but every once in a while the Kurtzmann looks like an "O-roll" machine....
I enjoy reading all the useful information and conversation that appears here. Where else could the "Force vs Distance" discussion happen! Thanks to Jody for maintaining this list.
Later,
Bob Ricco <rdrpr@attme.att.com>
