In a recent discussion on force vs travel of pneumatics, John
Grant invited me to check through back issues of the AMICA
Bulletin for published research by others on the topic. This
I have been doing through my complete unbroken set of Bulletins
from 1964, and all issues of Technicalities.
So far, I have not found the articles John speaks of, but I
did find some interesting articles by David Saul, an engineer
who's been a member longer (1969) than I:
A New Valve For Reproducing Pianos - Oct 79, Vol 16, No. 8
The Ampico "A" Sustaining Pedal Compensator - Apr 82, Vol 19, No. 3
Duo-Art Accordian Pneumatics - May/Jun 93, Vol 30, No. 3
David's research and analysis appears to be quite thorough,
and I'm wondering if he has done research that may be of
interest to others in this discussion. In fact, if he
could be persuaded to join this delightful list, perhaps
he might join in other discussions. So far as I am aware,
David is not a member of this list, but perhaps he could
be persuaded by personal contact to do so. His last known
address:
David Saul
1043 Eastside Road
El Cajon, CA 92020
(619) 449-9641
I'll continue to dig through these old journals. Stay tuned.....
Regards,
Terry

[ Editor's Note: The phone number and address are correct.
[ Terry: I took the liberty to correct a typo in the phone
[ number. El Cajon is just 30 minutes east of San Diego.
[ I've spoken with both David and his son (a computer programmer
[ who works for SAIC in San Diego) during the last year. David's
[ son has an e-mail address at work. I'll ask him if his dad
[ has access.
