Re: Roll Catalog Software
By Walter Tenten
Hallo Brian,
You are perfectly right about the fact that everybody, that owns a computer, sooner or later wants to catalogue his rolls. Probably everybody is using different software for this purpose.
Being a WordPerfect user since those Pre-Windows times, I found in an accessory package (WP Library) a program called Notebook. It's primary purpose is to maintain address lists for mailing and phoning purposes, but it turned out to be a very versatile utility, that has a lot of features of a data base. The WP Library is no longer maintained by WP, but I use still this little Notebook program, which is a character oriented DOS program. In case the formatting capabilities of Notebook are not sufficient one can import the "data base" into (every) WordPerfect text processing program as a so-called secondary dataset for the so-called merging procedure and consequently generate all types of fancy lists.
I would also like to here from other members of this list, on how they did their catalogue.
If you need more information on my version, I will be happy to supply whatever you are looking for.
Regards Walter
