The world famous Musee des Arts et Metiers (alias Musee National des Techniques) is closed for renovation for several years, but it has a good server on Internet (mostly in French ; some summaries of the articles published in the museum Journal are in English). I advise you strongly to explore it on:

I precise that I am not a member of the staff, so my advice is independent from any pressure ! You will discover on this server several automatic musical instruments listed, amidst them is the famous "Joueuse de Tympanon", by Kintzing and Roentgen, bought by Marie-Antoinette, with a photograph of the android, and even a video you can import on your machine (6 Mo). |
