Hand Crank Organs in Brussells and Elsewhere

thank you for your answer. I don't know exactly if this group can help me, so I decided to explain my interests to you. Some years ago I saw (and listened) in Brussels a spectacular instrument. We name it "realejo" but the English word seems to be "Street Organ" (Orgue de Barbarie). I'd like to have more informations on this subject (prices, models, manufacturers) but this kind of instrument doesn't exist at all in my countrie (Portugal), so I decided to contact the cultural internet groups of central Europe. Someone gave me your address but I'm really lost here. Do you think I'm in the right group? Thanks anyway
Carlos
[ You will find a number of people here who are interested in this topic. In [ fact, there are several people here who are interested in making _NEW_ tunes [ for these machines (by perforating paper or cardboard). There are also a number [ of societies around the world interested in this preservation of these [ instruments. Last summer I attended a "Rally" (a street fair) in Flint, [ Michigan, USA, where there were dozens (if not a hundred) of these instruments. [ I had a _GREAT_ time. The rally was sponsored by the Mid America Chapter [ of the Music Box Society, International. [ [ I'm going to put this message of yours into our next digest. I'm certain you [ will get some suggestions where you could see (and hear) more of these [ instruments. There are CDs and tapes, and books available. There is even [ a Web page that you may find interesting. Do you have "World Wide Web" access ? [ [ Jody
