Homemade Ampico Roll Labels
By Bruce Clark
Dear Jody, I received your message via my friend Jim. Sorry that so many arrived that were duplicate. However the fidonet is composed of hobbiests, and the formats are not standard. When one starts to try different software, the system goes down. Unfortunately, it is the only system available in this area, other than very expensive monthly ones for industry.
I will not say any more about the roll project, as I guess the redundant messages all came at once!
I have been experimenting printing up AMPICO labels for roll boxes. I feel that if a collector wants nice looking rolls, the labels should resemble the originals. It is obvious that in certain periods of time, the labels were different. I am trying to produce most all AMPICO labels, with the exception of the early Artigraphic. My standard top hat style of the middle 1920's are hard to tell from the originals.
Service on Fidonet seems to be improving, but not all the time. Your own mail seems to get to me ok, but others have sent lots of mail that just did not make it. I have sent out E-mail, thinking it got to it's destination, and weeks later it came back. I then turned around and sent it to the same address, and it was delivered. So, that is how it goes.
Wishing you and yours a happy holiday season. Bruce Clark
