WELTE DISCUSSION.
Firstly, I am not sure if I send these postings properly. I use PC Eudora and call up one of the digests and hit 'reply'.
[ Editors's note: Your procedure worked fine. Jody
I went to an auction yesterday as is my wont, and there was a very large grandfather clock with a barrel organ in the top. I was a bit ugly but interesting none the less. I had a good check round and found that all the
organ pipes were removed, the key frame and barrell was intact though. The
clock went to a dealer for £2000 or about 3000 dollars. I would have had it if it was complete.
I now own a 'Hicks' type barrel piano (street piano) in awful condition.
I have a Welte keyless red roll player (Bowers p333 third down on right) in the Empire style. The case is magnificent but the rest needed re-building.
The restoration is being undertaken in the UK but Reg Richings (R.E.Store) and will possibly be finished by Christmas.
I have about fifty red rolls at present all in good condition.
all the best.
